The domain Möllenbeck

History

Since the year 1470 the domain Möllenbeck is managed as a farm. We carry on traditions and create the original experience for our guests with the expansion of our leisure activities.


896 Emperor Arnulf of Carinthia confirmed in the document of August 13, 896 the foundation of the monastery Möllenbeck by the noble Mrs. Hildburg.
1248 The pen is totally destroyed by a fire.
1441 Bishop Albert II of Minden hands over the monastery to the Augustinian Canons of the Windesheim Congregation. 120 lay brothers are responsible for the management of the lands.
1503-1505 Completion of church construction and inauguration of the church.
1560-1670 Gradual introduction of the Reformation; Conversion of the monastery into a Protestant monastery with a grammar school. The remaining monks manage the lands.
1618-1648 In the Thirty Years' War, the village of Möllenbeck is deserted and the monastery is dissolved. The lands become a Hessian state domain, the proceeds of which serve to preserve the University of Rinteln.
1807 Founding of the Protestant Reformed parish Möllenbeck. The congregation receives the monastery church for use; the remaining buildings serve agricultural purposes.
1836 Foundation of the Kingdom of Westphalia; Napoleon claims the monastery.
1955-1961 Loccumer contract: Return of the monastery building to the church; gradual extraction of agriculture.
